Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required to be responsible for the mechanical design and the development of designs from concept through to Production.

Typical activities will include:
Responsible for producing mechanical designs to be incorporated into products developed for the Defense Industry including UK Government High Grade requirements.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Production of high quality designs and documentation including simulations and analyses.
Technical liaison with Electronic Design and Production teams.
Requirements analysis for new designs and traceability to specifications.
Contribute to peer design reviews ensuring adherence to design processes.

The successful candidate will have the below skills:
Experience of Mechanical Design to MIL-SPEC and DEF-STAN standards.
Experience in use of CAD design tools eg ProEngineer, Solidworks, Inventor.
Proven record of working closely with Electronic Design and Production teams in an environment of developing complex electronic products.
Experience of full development life cycle of products.
Experience of MIL-STD 1521B development process and milestone reviews.
Experience of conceptual design and feasibility analyses in multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience of design to meet harsh environmental conditions.
Experience of design to meet EMC & TEMPEST requirements.
Background in FEA and thermal simulation.
Competent in creating drawings to BS8888 standard.
Ability to perform tolerance analysis of close tolerance, complex assemblies.
Experience of optimising design of parts based on various manufacturing technologies: Machined from solid, injection moulding, extrusion, sheet metal and casting.
Knowledge of engineering materials and finishes.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
