A Senior Manager for Highways Projects is required to successfully manage a programme of complex and high risk projects across life cycle to realise agreed benefits. Manage contract compliance and risk effectively, realising business and strategic benefits.
Work collaboratively with suppliers/Directorates to ensure that every project delivers best value on a whole life basis, whilst maximising benefits to the customer during both delivery and following completion.
Drive improvements in H&S performance ensuring effective practice is promulgated to staff and partners
Work with stakeholders to identify, drive, capture, implement and transfer innovation and best practice across current and future projects.

The following skills and experience are essential
*Professional Qualification in Engineering or Project Management.
*Substantial experience of at least 15 years in the construction industry (ideally roads sector), dealing with high risk and high profile projects.
* Previous experience in Programme management of at least 3 inter-related projects, preferably in the public sector.
*Excellent leadership, coaching and influencing skills with experience of motivating a team to deliver programmes of work against challenging cost and schedule targets.
*Proven project management background, with experience in the infrastructure or transport sector.
*Experience of working collaboratively with the supply chain, through establishing high levels of trust and co-operation.
*Proven record of effective commercial management for large contracts under NEC or similar collaborative forms of contract.

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:
*Sound understanding of public sector governance.
*Experience of leading major corporate change.
