Senior Legal Counsel

A Senior Legal Counsel is required for Hyphens major telecommunications client based in Bristol for an initial period of 6 months.

You will work within the Commercial Legal Affairs team in the Legal Department. This position will be working with a team of lawyers. The role reports into the Head of Legal Affairs. The department is a busy and demanding environment split across locations.

Key responsibilities:
*Provide legal advice and expertise to clients/customers within the business and act upon advice as required.
*Drafting and agreeing all strategic agreements within the Commercial Legal Affairs team taking an active part in the negotiations and the strategy behind the agreement to minimise legal risks and ensure that the obligations and requirements of both parties are clear and enforceable.
*Ensuring compliance with legislation ensuring agreements which enters into do not breach relevant legislation. Preparing reports to senior stakeholders conveying key issues succinctly and concisely. Providing legal training to the business as required
*Strongly influence the reputation of the legal department by managing the relationships with the wider business to ensure the correct level of legal risk is maintained.
*To deliver all personal targets set by the Director of Commercial Legal Affairs and to keep them fully informed on key legal risks and opportunities and all other relevant strategic matters.
*To manage the relationship with external lawyers to ensure they deliver the highest quality, appropriate and cost effective legal advice.

Knowledge & Experience required:
Proven experience as a qualified UK Solicitor or Barrister (or overseas equivalent)
Excellent communication skills
Strong team player
Ability to work under pressure to demanding timescales
Self-motivated
Adaptable to change
Effective management of external legal service suppliers including solicitors and barristers
Operational delivery
Commercial approach
Ability to communicate at all levels including board level
