Senior/Lead Geophysicist

Projektbeschreibung

I am working with a client who is currently looking for a Senior/Lead Geophysicist for Aberdeen on a permanent basis. The client is a FTSE Top 25 energy company.

The Senior Geophysicist provides a wide range of geophysical support and technical advice/guidance to the SNS asset team and, as appropriate, project/operations teams, in particular:

- Seismic interpretation and mapping of both regional seismic and prospect specific data
- Direct and manage seismic acquisition and processing projects
- Provide geophysical input into new business opportunity evaluations
- Mapping and depth conversions for input into 3D models and volumetrics
- Preparation of relevant parts of well programmes in partnership with drilling and reservoir engineers
- Prepare and present material as required internally and to third parties (DECC/JV partners
- Application of appropriate geophysical technology e.g. AI, attribute volumes, etc. to aid in reservoir characterisation

The Role

- Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies and applies leading technologies and technical best practice to maximise field performance
- Supports the development of technical skills and knowledge within the SNS Asset team by openly sharing technical knowledge and expertise with less experienced professionals and through involvement in the technical mentoring process
- Contributes to sub-surface peer reviews, project brainstorming, etc
- Develops highly positive relationships, and inter-faces effectively, with other teams and external parties' e.g. well operations, projects, supply chain, JV partner representatives, technical function
- Develops a good understanding of financial/commercial aspects of work activities. Ensures expenditures are effectively managed, controlled and monitored. May provide input to budget preparation/business planning process
- Provides technical input and evaluation support relating to the award of contracts and supplier agreements for e.g. specialist geophysical services. As appropriate, supports the contractor/supplier management process by developing highly positive relationships with contractors and suppliers and ensuring delivery against agreed objectives/KPIs
- May be required to represent the company on industry forums, initiatives, etc
- May be required to make visits offshore for technical meetings and/or to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications.

The Person

- Previous experience in a similar role within a challenging and diverse asset management environment
- Previous experience of exploration and development within the UK SNS and advantage
- Exposure to drilling/well operations (well planning etc.)
- Proven ability to undertake complex tasks requiring the application of well-developed technical skills and knowledge with limited supervision
- Proven relationship-builder with the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
- Highly effective communication/presentation/report-writing skills
- Self starter/Highly motivated/Well organised
- Well developed analytical and problem-solving skills
