A small-dedicated team of highly skilled people will develop a new strategic capability for all countries. Your job description Senior Java Developer (QR3863)
For this startup we are looking for a software engineer specialized in the development of our Java back-end. As an engineer you work within a team of DevOps, UX and business colleagues to develop an outstanding customer proposition. The candidate should have strong knowledge and experience in designing, building and maintaining a back-end from scratch. The app will use rest API's to connect to different third parties and will need to expose API's for the mobile app to use. Performance, security and resilience are of upmost important, as we will be handling high load, customer data and want to deliver a service with maximum availability. A basic understanding and experience with Cassandra is needed, furthermore it's an advantage if the candidate has experience with operations, iOS or Android as well. The backend have to be quality controlled by fully automated tests and have to be performance tested for which the candidate is responsible as well. We work according to a SCRUM Agile development process and want to release working software every two weeks. The level of expertise and experience within the team will be very high which creates a very energetic atmosphere. We don't forget to have some fun while developing the proposition. You will be part of an unique journey of setting up a new team and raise the bar with your experiences.

Profile Senior Java Developer (QR3863)
- Minimal a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or comparable (HBO opleiding)
- Strong skills in Java software development and experience in design and development of complex, secure and performant applications
- Interest in technology and stay up-to-date on relevant new developments
- Knowledge of design and resilience patterns
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in creating highly scalable mission-critical applications.
- Excellent knowledge of Java including the Spring framework
- It is an advantage if you have experience in Android or iOS development as well
- Experience with test driven development & test automation
- Real world OO design experience and knowledge of design patterns
- Knowledge of Cassandra, experience with Hadoop and Spark are a nice-to-have
- Knowledge of Scala and Akka is a nice-to-have
- Experience with at least one modern scripting language
- Dutch and/or English speaking and writing skills
- Good social and communication skills
- Experience in Agile / scrum or scrum master
- You are familiar with continuous Integration tools like: GIT, Jenkins, Sonar, Maven, Nexus and are able to configure these tools.
