Senior Java Developer

One of the UKs foremost digital booksellers is looking for a talented and senior Java developer with a strong engineering background to play a major part in the development of their next-generation services platform.

As an agile developer you will be responsible for designing and developing class-leading, quality software that will form part of one of the UKs largest online bookshops. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and performance of large-scale web services and systems that are fast, available, scalable, and engineered to handle heavy traffic.

As a Java developer, you will have the following:

Strong skills in a broad range of Java technologies including JEE, Spring (preferablyv3), JPA/Hibernate
Demonstrable experience developing web services (SOAP , REST or both)
A good understanding of the model-view-controller architecture and how to implement it (using Spring MVC or similar)
A working knowledge of how to measure and improve the performance of web-based systems
Previous experience of working as part of an agile team
Exposure to an RDBMS such as MySQL or Oracle and an understanding of SQL
