Summary

You will be involved in all aspects of the Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) including, but not limited to: analysis, design, coding, testing and deployment. They will work as part of a project team delivering solutions for clients in an iterative agile environment.

The right candidate will have a commitment to delivering high quality, thoroughly tested code using techniques such as Test Driven Development (TDD) & Continuous Integration (CI).

A real passion for development is required, with a desire to continually improve their own skills as well as the processes and practises within the wider team. Individuals are encouraged to keep up to date with industry trends and technologies, sharing knowledge through techniques such as mentoring, pairing, White Papers, presentations and blogging. Playing an active role in our quest to stay at the forefront of technology, providing clients with the best the industry has to offer to meet their specific needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required

- Several years' experience with a development language such as Java, C#, Python or Groovy.
- Experience with web technologies such as HTML5, Javascript, JQuery, AngularJS.
- Experience of source control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Experience of Continuous Integration.
- Commitment to automated testing techniques such as TDD.
- Experience of working with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle or SQL Server.
- An appreciation and awareness of NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB, Riak or Redis.
- A desire to keep learning new skills.
- To recognise and adopt positive practices and behaviours.
- To recognise and challenge negative practices and behaviours.
- Agree to work on client sites where necessary.

Desired

- Experience of working with NoSQL technologies.
- Experience of infrastructure as code, such as Puppet, Chef or SaltStack.
- An open source portfolio of work such as a GitHub or BitBucket account.
- An online blog on any aspect of technology or interest.
- Active member of development/technology wider community, eg Agile attendee or presenter.

This position will be working with some of Yorkshire's most highly regarded Java professionals who take immense pride in their work.
