Senior Java Developer

Our client, located in Marietta, GA, is seeking a Senior Java Developer/Engineer to design and develop high performance, highly scalable Java applications and web services in a cloud environment. An expert level of competency in Java application development and RESTful services in a Linux environment is a requirement for this position. Mastery of Object Oriented Design principles and best practices is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of competency in automated testing frameworks with an understanding of optimization and performance tuning. Excellent written and communication skills along with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment are essential, along with critical problem solving and analytical skills are necessary.

You will have experience with Big Data and NoSQL databases, and have expert level capabilities with Java application development in a Linux environment, RESTful API development, Spring, Jersey/CXF, and Tomcat. Candidates will be well versed with Test driven development (JUnit, TestNG or similar, Object Oriented Design and best practices.

Demonstrated capabilities in developing and tuning cloud based applications, Redis, Riak, MongoDB, Cassandra or relational DB, and continuous integration or deployment using Groovy, Maven, Gradle, GIT, RabbitMQ, will give you a competitive advantage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Design, develop, code, install, debug and test diverse, complex and wide-ranging software solutions, while demonstrated advanced professional expertise of data flow through full systems implementation, exercising, up to and including leading others in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Determine operating feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions, and provide alternative solutions as required
- Partner collaboratively with the business and project team to accomplish tasks/milestones/goals
- Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and code comments
- Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policy and procedures
- Provide estimates of work effort and impact of projects and tasks, and provide team leadership, as required
- Update and distribute job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques and computing equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Highly proficient and demonstrated expert and consultative level technical software design, debugging, documentation, and testing skills, at the subject matter expert level necessary to complete and document projects
- Comprehensive knowledge of professional software development process and concepts, with the ability to lead and teach others
- Advanced level proficiency and breadth in required code development in area of specialization
- Developed and demonstrated proficiency to resolve a wide range of moderately complex business problems and opportunities where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
- Comprehensive and functional network of senior-level internal/external personnel in own area of expertise
- Demonstrated proficiency and application of business software life cycle development
- Excellent and demonstrated communication skills (verbal, written, wiki and white-boarding)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Agile methodology
- Ability to communicate and coordinate projects in a team leadership capacity

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field, or its equivalent
- 5 years of related experience in full cycle software development with demonstrated achievements and progressive responsibilities
