Senior Java Developer

Our Fortune 500 client has an immediate need for a Sr. JAVA Developer for a 6+ month contract assignment for their office in north metro Atlanta, GA area. Responsibilities to include providing technology leadership in the area of custom Java/J2EE development, develop and deliver high quality enterprise applications, both as an individual contributor and as a part of a development team, create clear and maintainable designs, writing code, and reviewing the code and designs of team members and correcting if necessary, participate in design and architecture discussions alongside a Technical Architect or Technical Delivery Leader (TDL), expected to create estimates, determine tasks, perform software design and implementation tasks, and provide status updates, shepherd code through the development process and lead the efforts of deploying the code into production systems efficiently, lead and/or participate in on-site and offshore project teams. This role requires excellent hands-on technical skills in Java/J2EE development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design, develop and maintain technology solutions for retail management systems
- Design, develop and maintain JasperReport based solutions for POS and Backoffice systems
- Create clear and maintainable designs, writing code, and reviewing the code and designs of team members
- Participate in design and architecture discussions alongside a Technical Architect or Technical Delivery Leader (TDL)
- Create estimates, determine tasks, perform software design and implementation tasks, and provide status updates
- Lead the efforts of deploying the code into production systems
- Working with project and business analyst leads to develop and clarify in-depth technical requirements.
- Use and improve the productivity of the development processes. 
- Working with architects, leads to estimate the level of effort.
- Follow client's IT coding standards
- Troubleshooting and debugging applications and providing fixes in a timely manner 

REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline with an information technology focus
- 5+ years of experience in developing Java applications.
- Full understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and Object Oriented Programming
- Full understanding of JasperReports version 3.X and 4.X
- Experience with advanced OOA/OOD techniques to design enterprise applications leveraging industry best practices
- Experience in UML modelling and use case driven development
- Experience in current versions of JBoss Application Server
- Experience with XML related technologies including XSLT and SOAP
- Good understanding and experience in relational databases (Sybase, Oracle or SQL Server)
- Experience in security systems and frameworks (JAAS, LDAP)
- Strong background in full life cycle development using multiple platforms or languages
- Ability to interact with Management and Software Developers
- Hands-on skills in Java/J2EE architecture and development.
- Ability to interact at a technical and non-technical level with Infrastructure, Network, Development, BA and QA teams
