IT PROJECT MANAGER FOSTER CITY, CA 12 MONTH CONTRACT

Our client operates the world's largest retail electronic payments network and is one of the most recognized global financial services brands. Currently this corporation is seeking a candidate will join the Corporate IT Project Management Office (PMO) and will be responsible for successful project delivery while working with matrixed teams comprised of Systems Analysis, Vendor, Development, QA, Operations and Business personnel.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:
PMP Certification, at least 8 years of PM experience, knowledge of software, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Clarity, etc. Candidates must be able to coordinate/manage up to 10 projects as well as support other PMs with larger efforts.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, IT or a related field
- PMP certification required
- Minimum of 8 years of project management experience required, preferably with payments systems, billing applications, formal project management methodology
- Large Project Management experience ($5m+), 5+ years experience
- Proven experience in managing people, process and project in a heavily matrixed organization structure required
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in the delivery of large scale software development, operational and integration efforts
- Working knowledge of the software development life cycle from requirements gathering to post-implementation production support, including quality assurance and system integration
- Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices

- Well organized, attention to detail, great planning and execution skills
- Proven skills in co-coordinating, managing large projects in a Matrix environment
- Adaptability and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time
- Solid skills in MS Project as well as familiarity with MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Clarity, etc.
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Team player: able to communicate with technical and business experts at all levels of the organization
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and creatively
- Financial industry, payments, and/or bill/revenue systems experience preferred
- Must sit onsite in Foster City

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Jointly manage multiple large projects with other project managers, independently own and manage multiple change requests, new initiatives, etc.
- Mindset to read and understand detail business and technical requirements.
- Manage requirement traceability Matrix to track requirements progression through various SDLC phases.
- Identify key stakeholders and work to achieve project objectives.
- Create detail project schedule, Gantt chart, critical path, etc.
- Manage project status report, issues, action items, risks, change log, internal and external dependencies, etc.
- Follow up on issues and action items towards resolution.
- Regularly monitor and report on project progress.
- Facilitate project status meetings, requirements and design discussions, and defect status reviews.
- Coordinate project estimating process, manage project budget, forecast, planned vs. actual.
- Work with vendors to develop, review and execute contracts.
- Develop innovative methods to effectively manage project constraints.
- Own and manage project SharePoint site, Project Work Book (PWB) and project communication plan.
- Work with project team to enforce compliance requirements.
