Senior Infrastructure and Software Engineer

Our client based in Birmingham is looking for a senior infrastructure engineer to join their team on an initial 3 month contract with possibility to extend.

An urgent requirement has arisen for a Senior Infrastructure and Software Engineer, to work in conjunction with the outgoing and incoming service providers on the line-of-business application migration work stream.

Responsibilities:

* Ensure that the line-of business application migration is undertaken with as little disruption as possible to business-as-usual IT services, including identifying and mitigating risks wherever possible;
* Investigate, and where necessary document, the use, installation and configuration of The Service's business applications in the outgoing suppliers data centre;
* Work with The Service's in-house Application Support and Technical Architects teams, and the incoming service provider's technical team, to ensure that the business applications are successfully re-installed in the new supplier's data centre, and that they are satisfactorily tested and prepared for operation cut-over;
* In conjunction with The Service's application support and technical teams; plan, test and execute all data migration activities that are required for successful application migration;
* Work closely with the supplier's and The Service's project managers in planning the delivery of business application migration activities, ensuring that milestone are realistic and achievable;

Technical Knowledge and Experience:

1 Experience in writing and using PowerShell / Windows Scripting Host for application deployment and environment configuration and administration.
2 Extensive experience with LDAP, JAVA, J2EE and .Net technologies;
3 Experience with Active Directory (Administration, support and configuration);
4 Experience with DDNS (Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008 R2);
5 Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, including the writing and execution of SQL scripts in support application deployment and migration activities;
6 Considerable experience of working with multi-server integrated systems using file-based integrations, trickle feed integrations, JMS, SOAP etc;
7 Experience with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), particularly using IBM Enterprise Service Bus / Process Server, JMS and EAI using J2C;
8 An in-depth knowledge of .NET Applications
9 Knowledge or experience of integrate, semi-automated document generation systems;
10 Data warehouse and corporate reporting technologies, preferably Business Objects;
