iSolutions, a team of c.280 personnel, is the sole provider of IT and computing services for the University of Southampton. This is a large and prestigious University and is highly dependent upon a vast array of advanced technologies. 

The University has embarked upon a series of multimillion-pound ICT infrastructure projects and is therefore looking for talented ICT Systems Engineers to bolster their already strong infrastructure function.

To meet the University's demands, the successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of supporting enterprise-class Windows based systems and will demonstrate knowledge and experience in a range of supporting technologies including storage and networking. 

The following list shows the majority of disciplines we must acquire. It is a long list and we understand that it is unlikely that any one candidate will possess all of these skills. Over time, we aim to recruit those with different subsets of skills to provide a comprehensive resource pool.

Therefore, if you have professional skills in SOME of the areas on the following list, we are very interesting in hearing from you: 

Primary OS: Windows

Other Servers: Linux, UNIX, Solaris

Storage: SAN, NAS, IBM DSxxxx, N-Series, Hitachi, NetApp,

Remote Access: Citrix

Virtualisation: VMware ESX, ESXi, vCenter, vSphere;

Storage: EMC Isilion, Hitachi Data HUS; encryption technologies

Networking: TCP/IP, secure communications, encryption technologies

Research compute

Fibre Channel Switching/Fabric management/iSCSI/FoE, Brocade; Cisco

Backup and archive; IBM Tivoli Storage Manager or equivalent scale backup solution

Disaster Recovery tools and processes;

Web Services: IIS, Apache

Naming services, LDAP, NIS;
