Senior Front End Developer

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Front End Developer has arisen in Brussels.

- Minimum 12 years combined relevant studies and/or experience after the secondary school
- Minimum a total of 10 years the below required specific expertise

* In-depth knowledge of presentation layer design, with the following technologies (CSS, HTML5, XML, JavaScript/jQuery, Java Server Faces (JSF), Kendo UI, JAXB)
* In-depth knowledge of WebLogic Application Server
* In-depth knowledge of Java Object-Oriented Programming and Service Oriented Architectures

As a Senior Front End Developer you will have complementary expertise in:

- Good knowledge of SQL
- Good knowledge of relational database systems, namely Oracle DBMS
- Good knowledge of software modelling languages and tools (ex.: UML)
- Good knowledge of UNIX and Linux operating systems
- Familiarity with bug tracking/reporting tools (ex.: Atlassian JIRA and SMT)
- Familiarity with business process modelling languages (ex.: BPMN)
- As a Senior Front End Developer you will have familiarity with enterprise content management tools (ex.: MS SharePoint)
- Knowledge of EC authentication system ECAS
- Very good analytical skills, for problem solving, algorithm design and respective implementation
- Very good verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct meetings, deliver technical trainings and interact with the users
- Very good written communication skills. Ability to write and update extensive and detailed technical documentation, meeting minutes and emails
- Proactive attitude, being capable of learning autonomously and with a fast learning curve, working unassisted and seeking user's and manager's needs pre-emptively
- Willingness to work in an environment where the compliance with formal procedures and hierarchical instructions are of utmost importance
- Fluency in English both in oral and written expression
- Knowledge of French can be an advantage

As a Senior Front End Developer your daily tasks/responsibilities will include:

- Set-up of the project in the CITnet tools (Atlassian tools: Confluence, JIRA, Stash, Nexus, Bamboo)
- Analysis of the current implementation of MDT Web portal
- Analysis of the current implementation of IS4STAT Web portal
- Collect user requirements for the future implementation of the generic Web Admin portal, both based on these information systems and other potential future stakeholders
- Designing a new generic Web Admin portal based on the requirements collected
- Implementing the new Web Admin portal based on the established design
- Deploying and managing the installation and technical aspects of the new Web Admin portal
- Analysis of incidents and new requirements, and assess their impact in the Web Admin Portal and compatibility with all underlying production information systems
- Evolutionary and corrective maintenance of the Web Admin Portal
- Testing corrections and evolutions
- Updating all impacted documentation
- Monitoring the functional mailbox for the portal which will receive the support requests from the ITIC Helpdesk via SMT
- Assess and reply to the requests using the functional mailbox and SMT
- Register maintenance or improvements requests in JIRA that stem from the user requests
- Actively screen the status of SMT and JIRA issues, and follow-up accordingly
- Analyze and estimate the workload and impacts of user support requests, communicating to the users the expected time for resolution of their requests
- Supervise the Web Admin Portal, proactively screening for the correct functioning of the tool, and communicating with DIGIT, for ensuring continuation of service
