Senior Financial Controller

My client, a leading global bank is looking for a Senior Financial Controller to sit within their retail control function.

Financial Control
Provide subject matter expertise
Keep up to date with subject matter knowledge and best practice in this area
Reviews/analyse implications of Finance projects for own area of expertise. Recommend change and raises change requests, as necessary.
Investigate internal accounting and external reporting implications of new and amended accounts for own area of expertise.
Develop and implement new processes on an on-going basis to enable the business to adopt best practice.
Ensure divisional and group reporting deadlines are met and the output of information is timely, reliable and informative.

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
Acts for business/unit customers providing expert help and guidance on a wide range of complex and difficult subjects. Use experience and apply technical knowledge to understand the potential impact of decisions on other areas, and interpret requirements.
Acts as a centre of excellence by providing in-depth, specialist knowledge and handling difficult issues that have been escalated.
Investigate and resolve more complex problems, issues and queries, and liaise with customers, suppliers and other experts, as appropriate.
Responsible for analysis, reporting and the control environment

Essentials
Formal accounting qualification - ACA/ACCA/CIMA/ACMA
Ideally a strong academic background
Experience of financial accounting and control
Understanding and experience of the financial services market and the latest thinking and developments in finance.
Thorough and up to date understanding of financial accountancy
Jobholders are expected to have a good knowledge of Excel
