Senior Estimating Engineer

My client is an international energy service company employing more than 29,000 people worldwide and operating in 50 countries.y

They are currently seeking a Senior Estimating Engineer for their office in the North West/Cheshire region on a contract basis.

Basic Purpose of Job:
-Application of the current agreed contract norms, provide estimating support to the Assignment Managers, Project Leads, Managers, cost & planning, advise management and engineering of the accuracy levels (class of estimate) of tiers 1 - 4, Application of non=prod time, indirect & supervision. Material & fabrication take-offs, provide specific and general estimating presentations on an ad hoc basis.
-Estimates will generally be compiled to include all Labour, Plant, Material, Fabrication, subcontracts and all other contractually allowable items therefore all candidates must be able to extract all required information from various sources like Drawings, Specifications, Data sheets, scope of works and Contract documents. Our estimates are generally compiled to conform with a gated process from Conception to Completion/Commissioning of the works. i.e. appraise select define execute.
-In addition to the Estimating requirements there will also be a requirement for occasional assistance to the Cost Engineering functions therefore experience in this field would be advantageous.

Main Duties:
-Ensure all estimates are compiled in accordance with the Client specific Estimating Guideline and PCM. Maintain estimating priorities plan and the estimating registers. Administer and facilitate the Risk management process.
-This will require a proactive individual to actively ensure all details are obtained from all parties in order to meet timely submissions.

Education & Qualifications:
ONC minimum / City and Guilds minimum with vocational experience
HNC or higher qualified preferential

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
-Understanding of offshore codes of practice, regulations and standards advantageous
-Significant previous experience in estimating roles - Preferably Oil & Gas / Petro-Chem Bias.
-Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, knowledge of Oracle would be an advantage.
-Awareness of lean engineering and associated estimating tools would be an advantage
-Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications for compilation of take off's.

Experience:
-experience in estimating. Offshore Oil and Gas experience preferred.
-E&I bias / experience preferred

-Must be flexible and pro-active in approach to work within a small team.
-Good communication skills to ensure correct information is being sought and received from all other departments. Team Player requirements.
