Senior Enterprise Architect (Capability)

The organisation is looking for an experienced Lead/Senior Enterprise Architect to manage an existing successful team of broad skilled, closely integrated architects in a dynamic and fast moving environment. The architecture team is responsible for designing and delivering real world, bespoke, architectural solutions across the architecture spectrum to support strategic and dynamic requirements of the business. The successful candidate must have proven experience of managing technical teams in a similar role and be able to represent all aspects of architectural design.

Key Capability Lead Architect Responsibilities:

* Manage the in-year and day to day running of a medium sized team of technical architects (application, infrastructure, security & data) and if circumstances require, working directly as a resource on projects
* Work with the Technical Director, Programme Lead and Project Managers to assign architect resources to projects based on business priorities, ensure deadlines are met and project documentation is completed to organisation standards
* Work with the Technical Director to understand and contribute to the future architecture strategy. Ensure architecture designs align with the Technical Director's technology strategy and the organisation's business plan
* Ensure the team follow enterprise, programme and project governance, change management and design review processes. De-conflict architectural design differences within the team and external influences
* Organise and host technical design reviews to stimulate design ideas, provide constructive feedback and direction during project phases and approve designs before moving into development
* Monitor & manage architect staff performance, initiate new ideas and be involved in implementing new technologies and methods

Desired Capability Lead Architect Skills:

* Experience managing high performing teams of technical staff (E)
* Experience of successful architecture design and integration in large scale enterprise organisations (E)
* Knowledge and experience turning requirements into models and how these integrate with the relevant architectural areas (E)
* Experience designing and leveraging service-based architecture and message bus topologies (D)
* Work collaboratively as part of the broader architecture team, sharing ideas and experience wherever possible (E)
* Experience of architecture design for successful agile developed projects working as part of an integrated team with project managers, business analysts, business change, architects and developers (D)
* Knowledge and experience using at least one industry modelling tool (e.g. Enterprise Architect) (D)
* Experience designing active/ active solutions across multiple sites (D)
* An understanding of project and programme management processes (D)
* Experience working with NoSQL technologies (D)
* Experience of systems/ solutions that process high volume, disparate datasets at high speed (D)
