Senior Engineer Contractor

This position is a hands-on role in which you will make contributions to all systems in our diverse technology stack which includes Linux, nginx and Drupal CMS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Own and code the build/deploy scripts for all Linux systems.
- Own, maintain, and enhance the nginx reverse Proxy configurations and help drive system integrations at the network level in conjunction with the Tech Ops team.
- Act as System Administrator for our Drupal Content Management System, including improvements to the server infrastructure and architecture, defining models for data replication and backup, and integrating updates to the Drupal core software and modules.
- Serve as liaison to the Technical Operations team and work with them on hardware requests, network requests and infrastructure initiatives.
- Engage the Automation Testing team to increase our test coverage and increase our performance testing capabilities.
- Develop and evolve the system infrastructure required to support the growing needs of the business.

SKILLS:

REQUIREMENTS:

- 5+ years of Shell Scripting with BASH, Perl, or Ruby Scripting languages.
- Software development experience with diverse technical stacks (Python, RoR, PHP) and strong experience with Linux based systems.
- Thorough understanding of the HTTP protocol stack and as it relates to web infrastructure components such as proxies, load balancers, and VIPs.
- Experience with administering Red Hat, CentOS, or SuSE Servers.
- Ability to execute within a team focused on reliable delivery.
- Exposure to configuration, deployment and sustenance of an nginx reverse Proxy installation (or similar solution) -- strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with the Drupal CMS application stack (nice to have).
- BS in Computer Science or related engineering field required. MS and/or PhD a plus.
