Senior Electrical/Electrical Design Engineer, French speaking

POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will play a key role in the Electrical Building Services Department. This is a senior role (however a electrical engineer with French ability will be considered), and the person will be responsible for all the usual day-to-day duties associated with a senior engineer, both office and site based, with clients, suppliers and with colleagues.

DUTIES

- Carry out conceptual design studies producing design schemes and deliverables such as design philosophies.
- Carry out detailed electrical engineering including preparation of calculations and drawings for full suite of electrical building services design.
- Review submissions and installations for compliance with design intent and good engineering practice, being resident on a construction site for short periods as required for construction assistance.
- Witness commissioning activities, trials and factory acceptance tests for compliance with design intent and good engineering practice.
- Provide support to proposals as required.
- Manage, develop and mentor Electrical Building Services Engineering staff at junior levels.
- Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines within the UK offices.
- Manage the Electrical Building Services input to projects, including the production of deliverables on time, and the efficient and lean use of resources.
- Visit French project sites and liaise with French/UK clients

REQUIREMENTS

- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience (consider someone with commensurate experience also)
- Working Fluency in French is a requirement (90% of location will be in Birmingham office, 10% in France)
- Membership of the IET or CIBSE (to Chartered level) highly desirable.
- Demonstrated capability and experience in Electrical Engineering Design - experience in Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Food or Energy projects would be a distinct advantage.
- Working knowledge of Amtech cable and short circuit calculation design package.
- Working knowledge of DiaLux lighting design package
- Design experience of Medium Voltage 11kV - 20kV substations and on site distribution systems a distinct advantage.
- Knowledge of energy generation and distribution systems highly desirable.
