Senior Electrical Design Engineer & Embedded Systems Programmer

12 Month Contract

We are an award winning product development company in Central London and we develop disruptive products and ideas for the likes of Motorola, Panasonic and Nokia. We require an electrical engineer and embedded systems programmer to work on a specific disruptive new product which requires further prototyping and development through to production.

Main duties and responsibilities:

- To design, develop and test circuits and systems
- Prototyping a wide variety of potential solutions and selecting best candidates for production
- Analogue, digital and microcontroller-based circuits
- To create circuit schematics and layout multi-layer PCBs using CAD
- To support production, planning and purchasing with regard to electrical and electronic components and systems
- To prepare specifications and technical documents
- To collaborate with other engineering team members and external vendors
- To contribute ideas and inventions to improve the company's products

Key Skills:

- Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering or closely related subject with grade 2.1 Hons or higher
- Design of analogue and digital electronic circuits
- Design of power supply circuits
- Design of battery charge circuits
- Wireless communications e.g. embedded bluetooth and wifi modules
- Writing firmware in C/C++ and Assembler for embedded microcontrollers (knowledge of Atmega processors desirable)
- Schematic capture and PCB layout
- I2C communications protocol between circuit modules

Nice to have experience:

- Developing circuits to achieve certain safety standards specifications
- Circuit miniaturisation
- Moving prototype small-run units into mass production
- Ultra low-power circuit design
- RF circuit design and layout
- PC software programming (e.g. Ruby, Python, Erlang)
- VHDL / FPGA logic design and implementation
- Modelling heating and thermal dynamics (e.g. in Matlab)
- Modelling circuit behaviour (e.g. in Matlab)

We are flexible, and don't mind if the suitable candidate works from home, but they should be available to work from our offices for at least 1 day a week.
