Senior Developer

BACKGROUND

Our Cantral Government client is looking to take on a Senior Developer to work a 6 month contract based in Taunton.

The successful candidate will be required to work as part of an on-going project to improve core systems. The team works in an Agile manner using the Scrum framework. We are looking for someone who is comfortable sharing ownership of the team's commitment to deliver quality software on a regular basis.

Working as part of a multi-disciplined team alongside developers, testers and architects, the post-holder will be required to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure we continue to deliver business value on an incremental and iterative basis.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

*Work collaboratively in a self-organised, cross-functional team to maximise success
*Provide both high-level and detailed estimates depending on planning phase (Backlog grooming, Release planning, Sprint planning)
*Participate in planning sessions to help clarify requirements, provide estimates and achieve team commitment on content of up-coming development iterations
*Ability to identify and express risk and include within estimate
*Design, code, test and documentation of existing software and future development
*Provide technical advice to internal and external customers and colleagues
*Document changes to the system and application architecture overviews

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential Skills
*Demonstrable working knowledge of the following programming languages:-
oC#
oASP.NET
oSQL
*Demonstrable working knowledge of the following:-
oUnit Testing (MSTest, NUnit, RhinoMocks).
oContinuous Integration (Jenkins, TFS/MSBuild)
oVersion Control(Subversion and/or TFS)
*A good knowledge of at least one of the following technologies and design principles:-
oXML
oMicrosoft SharePoint
oUML
oSQL Server
oOracle
oSOA/Web Services/WCF

Desirable Skills:
K2 Workflow
Awareness of Kanban/Lean Software Development
