This leading automotive manufacturer has a need for a experienced design engineer with the ability to take a lead role on new product developments both with existing customer projects and R&D activities.

Joining as Principal Design Engineer you will work closely with the existing chief engineer as he approaches retirement to ensure knowledge is retained within the business.

However it is essential you join with the experience behind you for this senior role and an excellent knowledge of designing products involving casting and machined components for medium to high volume manufacturer is being sought.

- Ideally an established graduate mechanical engineer
- Extensive experience of designing products involving casting and machined components for medium to high volume quantities. ***
- Good understand of manufacturing processes enabling design optimised for manufacture.
- Knowledge of rotating components such as bearings, seals, gears, pulleys would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong CAD skills with complex geometry
- In-depth analytical design capabilities, possibly involving Matlab typical software.
- An understanding of automotive project management systems is not essential but would be useful.
- The minimum experience that would likely fulfil this role is 6 years post graduate design experience.
