Senior Database Engineer Job

SENIOR DATABASE ARCHITECT (HA) needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Palo Alto, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Design, implementation supervision, and support of next gen hardware and software infrastructure for HANA cloud computing initiatives both within SAP and with partners
- Serve as a primary architect for the HANA systems engineering team in enterprise cloud Drive the evaluation and adoption of emerging High Availability technologies in support of HANA cloud computing initiatives
- Engage with HANA development team to incorporate next generation/cloud-based technologies into platform/product
- Serve as key technical lead for partner-based projects
- Communicate high-level business impact and technical strategy to Executive Management.
- Coach and mentor technologies to other members of the technical team
- Help drive the investigation and specification of system solutions involving the integration of multiple layers of the SAP stack, including applications, database, system software, and hardware.
- Work closely with systems engineers to realize solution vision through engineering definition and "hands on" engineering and development activities

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering.
- World-class innovator, deep understanding, and hands-on comfort with hardware systems, building fault tolerant and fault resilient systems.
- Deep understanding of Database architecture and fault management systems.
- Experience with hardware and software failure modes and mitigation.
- Experience with architecting and development of replication (system, storage) and deep understanding of synchronous and asynchronous techniques and relative merits.
- Understanding of various memory technologies, their failure models, distributed systems and building fault resilience in distributed scale-out systems of large scale.
- Demonstrated capability to triage and multitask effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to interact extensively with customers to assist with implementation/network Architecture or service-related issues.
- Strong executive-level oral and written communication skills and customer orientation
- Technical project management experience
- 10 years of in-depth experience with architecting, planning, designing and executing systems-related projects within enterprise, hosting, and/or cloud-centric data centers
- 5 years of project management/management experience in fast paced environment
