Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

Yoh has a contract opportunity as a SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (DBA) to join our client in Cupertino, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability for future growth.

Job Qualifications:

- Eight to ten (8 - 10) years of experience with MySQL/Oracle or any other database as a Database Administrator/Architect in a production environment with large data set.
- He/she should not be biased towards any one database platform. He/She can think strategically and suggest improvements that may involve any database, including Hadoop.
- He/she should be able to work on both tactical and strategic issues.
- Experience administering different MySQL table types InnoDB/MyISAM.
- Experience with MySQL stored procedures is a plus.
- Experience with MySQL replication, performance tuning/optimization (query optimization, index tuning, caching, etc.).
- Experience with checking for data consistency between master and slaves (multiple).
- Solid understanding and experience in disaster recovery and high availability, planning, and implementations for future growth.
- Experience with installation, configuration and upgrades of MySQL/Oracle, and migration to Oracle Database.
- Experience with MySQL backup and restore including backup and restore.
- Production database administration skills with MySQL Cluster, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server are a plus.
- Experience with any third party tools is plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to troubleshoot problems in person, over the phone, or via email.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities with minimal guidance.
- Having a Systems Administration background will be an added benefit.
