Senior Database Administration Specialist

ROLE DIMENSIONS

- Part of a close team of up to 6 Database Administration Specialists
- Supporting Production, UAT, SIT and Development environments for a broad range of applications
- Touching multiple database platforms (Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2)
- Very results oriented for productivity and quality in a fast-paced environment.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

TECHNICAL

- Solid experience on most or all of the following products:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008,
- Oracle 11,
- Sybase ASE 15.x,
- Sybase Replication Server 15.x
- Advanced knowledge of Shell Scripting (ksh) and/or Perl
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning

NON-TECHNICAL

- Strong verbal and written communications skills. Good at technical writing of documentation.
- Actively supports other people in a team environment
- Has the capability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
- Will have the desire to promote themselves and their team within the organization through working proactively with other departments to improve work processes and build relationships
- Values testing, rehearsal, and repeatability of processes to produce quality deliverables
- Assesses the risk related to context. Delegates or escalates when needed.
- Able to own and resolve problems in a timely manner, focused on addressing root causes of issues
- Possess the ability to identify areas needing improvement and correct process accordingly.
- Ability and desire to work within a team driven environment and be responsible enough to work unsupervised
- Able to handle multiple high and low level projects simultaneously and deliver on-time and in-scope with a real focus on results.
