Senior Data Architect - IT/Telecoms

My Client is  currently searching for a Senior Data Architect to work in their Middle East BI Team on a long term contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for data model and database design with consideration given to optimizing data access and data loadingYou will follow data architecture standards, policies and procedures, structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements, and apply accepted data content standards to data warehouse projects. The candidate will also be responsible for business analysis, data acquisition and design. 

Core Responsibilities:
Uses appropriate data modelling tools to develop data warehouses. Erwin, Toad, SQL Navigator.
Create data models and databases that operate efficiently given the capabilities and limitations of BI tools (notably Business Objects and Cognos) and ETL tools (notably Informatica).
Work closely with the end users to understand their business requirements, and creates decision support systems, data analysis tools, and reports for tactical business problem solving.
Work with project developers to integrate effective database designs. Act as a consultant in the areas of conceptual and physical database design, development, implementation and maintenance.

Ideally they are looking for the following:

Technical Skills
10+ years of relevant work experience
Minimum 6 years of DWHpartitioning indexes; star schema optimization; parallel queries.
Advanced proficiency in software development, software design, software testing, software configuration management, software engineering tools and software quality.
Advanced skills in writing, troubleshooting and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, table structures, and triggers in Unix, Linux, or Windows environment.
Fluency in SQL and thorough knowledge of database design and tuning with standard SQL tools.
Ability to design data warehousing solutions that can take large volumes of data and rapidly generate meaningful reports.
Ability to work with team members to design and maintain a corporate data architecture that will allow the data warehouse to evolve with the business.
Must be experienced in understanding how EIS/DSS systems work and integration issues with all data sources and systems, such as ERP and Billing, CRM, IN, VAS.
Ericsson CS 5 exposure is a plus
Exposure to other DWH MPP solutions (Greenplum, Netezza, Vertica) would be an advantage

Experience in identifying, analysing and translating business requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models in complex, multi-application environments.
Demonstrated project management experience and understanding of best practice methodology
Fluent English both written and spoken is required along with strong presentation & meeting skills
Autonomous thinking and proactive approach to investigating and discovering solutions
Commitment to open, transparent and frequent communication with customers and team

Education
Bachelor of Science degree in a computer related discipline
Teradata Certified Professional (nice to have)
