Senior Contract CAD Designer

ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create moderate to complex machine design models and drawings from rough drawings, sketches or notes provided by Engineering personnel.
Prepare sketches or complete detail and layout drawings from verbal or written instructions for complex products or equipment.
Design and development of component part drawings to support general machine design of equipment.
Input B.O.M.'s into PDM and business systems.

SKILLS:
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in designing machined and fabricated assemblies, including knowledge of machining practice and fabrication techniques (welding, forming, etc.) for a variety of materials
Thorough knowledge of equipment assembly procedures as it applies to the development of assembly drawings.
Understanding of the construction and use of indented bills of material and their relationship to upper level assembly drawings.
General understanding of equipment system controls.
Minimum of 3 years Solidworks 3D modelling and 2D CAD drafting software as part of design process. Solidworks Simulation and FEA experience are very desirable.
Must be able to design machine components from concepts laid out by more senior people
Knowledge of materials, and strength/sizing calculations is required
AS degree in Mechanical Engineering or CAD is desirable, but not required with demonstrated design capability.
7 to 10 years of 3D machine design experience with at least 3 years SolidWorks 3D modelling experience.
MS Office
PDM (Product Data Management) experience preferred
SolidWorks 2011 or higher experience is a MUST.
