Senior Component Design Engineer

Our client, a leading Aerospace engineering company based in Derby, are looking for a senior design engineer to get involved with a wide variety of activities such as creating mechanical design concepts for new production engines, utilising the latest technologies and manufacturing processes as appropriate for the best Total Life Cost.

This contract will be on a 12 month rolling contract basis, likely to be extended up to a possible 24 months.

You will have ownership of the design solutions through the Engineering Review Board (ERB) process and will be responsible for negotiating interfaces with our Gas Turbine Supply Chain Units (SCUs), Airframer and nacelle manufacturers.

Dependant on experience and capability the candidate may be required to supervise/lead a number of in-house or offload designers.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

- Understanding of aero engine hardware (preferably Installations hardware) design requirements, manufacturing techniques and validation methods.
- Evidence of good communication skills and high levels of initiative.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

- Knowledge and understanding of Unigraphics NX6+
- PDM (Product Data Management) & PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software eg word, excel, project for windows
- Ideally candidates should be degree educated or have an equivalent in a relevant aerospace discipline.
