Senior Communications Advisor

SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR - MEDIA RELATIONS, PUBLIC RELATIONS, PRESS RELEASES

A Senior Communications Advisor with Media Relations, Public Relations and Press Releases experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a 6 month contract working for a UK leading defence company.

OVERVIEW OF THE SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR CONTRACT ROLE

Responsible for providing guidance and support to the functions on communications strategy deployment, including embedding communications activities. To assist the business managers in development and effective delivery of communications which enhance business performance.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR

- Responsible for the development and delivery of media relations activity.
- Help enhance, promote and defend the reputation of the business.
- Draft materials for issue to local, regional and national media, including press releases and official company statements, as well as arrange press briefings and media visits/events.
- Act as company spokesperson, where appropriate.
- Work closely with the communications function at Head Office, and liaise with government departments.
- A good understanding of the role of communications in business.
- A good understanding of core communication principles, techniques and skills.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft and/or other relevant software packages.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District.
