Senior Commercial Manager (SC Cleared)

Location: Hemel Hempstead

DURATION: 3 + MONTHS

ROLE CONTEXT, RESPONSIBILITIES & DESCRIPTION OF SKILLS

- Senior Commercial Manager within the clients Team to replace Commercial Manager who is moving on.
- To provide effective commercial management for the client.
- To be based in at the Cleveland.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

- Provide effective commercial, contract and supplier management for the client.
- Contract in accordance with Steria business controls
- Develop relationships with client teams by attending client governance meetings, ensuring issues and disputes are resolved promptly.
- Operate commercial frameworks and assure the bid responses in order that business targets can be met.
- Manage procurement and negotiation of supply contracts directly linked to client contracts, working in conjunction with central purchasing.
- Assure that delivery performance and contract compliance are in accordance with commercial plans.
- Assure the accuracy and effectiveness of account specific financial control processes including financial monitoring, forecasting, billing and cost control against contractual and commercial plan requirements.
- Act as the point of escalation within a specified perimeter for resolving delays in payment of invoices by clients.
- Identify opportunities for profit improvement and potential commercial or contractual risks, implementing mitigating actions to improve profit and minimize exposure to loss, disputes, claims.
- Support the promotion of commercial awareness within the Account.
- Provide advice on commercial and contractual matters to colleagues within a specified field.
- Provide regular reports to the Sector Commercial Manager on the commercial health of the assigned area.
- Contribute to the development of best practice commercial management, business rules, processes and controls.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

- Knowledge of Steria commercial processes and controls and sales processes and experience of work utilising them.
- Experience and skills in managing client contracts within an account or assignment.
- Experience of managing third party supply contracts through all life cycle stages.
- Good contract/letter drafting skills.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in negotiation techniques with both clients and suppliers.
- Knowledge and experience of risk management techniques.
- Experience/understanding of client delivery in large or complex environments.
- Experience of working within the sales process to support identification of opportunities qualification, estimating, and design and delivery of proposals
- Good influencing and relationship management skills demonstrated with client management, senior supplier management, account and sector management and other company practices.
- Financial numeracy at a broad level with an understanding of financial reporting sufficient to identify risk areas arising from financial information.
- Job holder may hold relevant professional qualifications and/or memberships in the area of management accountancy, procurement, project management and service management.

Due to the nature of the client and project we do require SC cleared Senior Commercial Manager with valid and fully transferable SC clearance.
