Senior Chemical Process Engineer Job

SENIOR CHEMICAL PROCESS ENGINEER for a long term CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in KANSAS CITY, MO. This position has the possibility of direct hire.

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT A CLIENT SITE LARGE INDUSTRIAL CHEMICAL FACILITY (TOBACCO AND SMOKE FREE). THE COMPANY MAINTAINS AN ENGINEERING TEAM AT THE SITE.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Design, analyze and optimize highly integrated processes as well as basic unit operations such as distillation columns or heat exchangers;
- Support capital projects as a process engineer generating the material and energy balances, process specifications for equipment, instruments and piping;
- Work well with all levels of the manufacturing organizations on site as well as offshore counterparts in order to consistently generate interest in new projects;
- Define the scope of projects, evaluate technical alternatives, write and execute project proposals and communicate project results to the customer;
- Develop and maintain dynamic and static process models;
- Provide leadership to the TD Unit through mentoring and coaching of less experienced engineers.
- Regular visual acuity, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, talking, sitting; Intermittent balancing, stooping, crouching and climbing.
- Regular thinking, reading, reasoning/decision making, writing of complex documents and expression of thought
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), perform job functions in company offices or work site and withstand environmental conditions

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS, MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field as a process engineer
- Minimum of ten (10+) years of previous experience as a project or process engineer in various capital projects in a chemical or refinery manufacturing facility preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification a plus.
- Skills in steady state and dynamic simulation using commercial software tools (eg, ASPEN) a plus.
- Ability to conduct systematic process data analysis/data mining exercises for vast and complex process datasets
- Ability to design and evaluate experimental tests on lab, pilot and plant scale
- Ability to design and evaluate basic unit operations such as distillation columns or heat exchangers
- Ability to make decisions and work independently to develop and implement state-of-the-art solutions into the production workflow
- Demonstrated leadership and people skills; ability to work well in teams;
- Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively and promptly with all levels of the TD Unit and customer organizations;
- Willingness to travel (20-50%).
