Senior Chemical Process Engineer - Contract - UK

6 MONTH CONTRACT WITH THE OPTION TO EXTEND

My Client is looking for an immediate start contractor. Competitive rate.

Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global business unit.

POSITION SKILLS REQUIRED:

Technology awareness -  specifically, good knowledge in Refinery and Petrochemicals with extensive experience in the following areas:

Refinery unit operation (CDU, FCC, hydrocracker/treater, platformer, isomerization) with a special focus on HMU and residue gasification.

Refinery fuel/fuel gas systems, on-site power generation (gas turbines, steam cycle).

(Ethane) steam Cracker with Oil-Chemical interface opportunities between the refinery and the (gas) cracker.

Hydrogen and syngas production from gasification of refinery residues.

- Experience gained in revamp/debottleneck projects with a focus on unit interfaces management.
- Operational experience of refinery units, steam cracker, utilities and off-sites, including turnaround and C&SU is a plus.
- Review/preparation of operating manuals (incl. start-up and shutdown, various/optimized modes of operation, trip recovery).
- Industry Codes and Standards - Knowledge of API 520, 521, 526, 527, 2000
- Ability to advise and mentors less experienced colleagues. Stimulates creative thinking and initiative taking in teams.
- Engineering Work Processes - Interdiscipline coordination, change management
- Operation service minded, results focused, pragmatic.

SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Carries out designs and engineering of processes, equipment and systems.
- Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data from site teams and suppliers: verifies routine design work.
- Participates in technical audits and study teams.

Specifically, delivers:

- Process configuration and optimization studies
- Process modelling and simulation: HYSYS
- Preparation of PFDs and heat and mass balances
- Hydraulic calculation (incl. pumps, compressors)
- Safety, environmental and operability reviews (HAZOP, ENVID, SIL)
- P&ID development, including selection of design conditions, hydraulic analysis, line sizing and pipe specifications, equipment isolation, vent and drain systems, cause and effects.

OTHER REMARKS/QUALIFICATIONS:

- MEng in Chemical Engineering, member of IChemE is a plus.
