Senior Category Specialist - Network Assets & Metering

Senior Category Specialist-Network Assets and Metering Coventry £250-£300 per day We are currently recruiting for a contract Senior Category Specialist to be responsible for the strategic management and ownership of a number of soft facilities management categories through a structured category management approach. For example these categories will include soft FM Services and Estates Management. Category Managers will typically manage portfolios with an annual spend of £15million. The Senior Category Specialist has an important part to play: * Profiling / researching supply markets and suppliers and assessing trends, opportunities and risks. Over time the post holder will be expected to develop an expert knowledge of the assigned category areas. * Developing and implementing category strategies which fulfil business requirements (costs and performance) and which recommend strategic sourcing options, tactics, implementation plans, commercial supply risks, whilst ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements. * In partnership with the stakeholders proactively lead all necessary tendering and supplier selection processes, ensuring that the STW tendering process is followed at all times. Responsible for supplier selection, managing the tender process and implementing the contacts including the development of SLAs and KPIs. Ensure that the requirements of SAP are incorporated in to the negotiations for any new contracts (e.g. catalogues, Work Force Management, Asset Management). In this way the Category Manager will develop and apply selection criteria and evaluation methodology which match the right suppliers with Severn Trent's requirements. * Monitor usage of contracts implemented and put in place actions to maximize contract compliance e.g. effective communication with stakeholders and use of SAP catalogues, contracts and vendor lists. * Effectively liaise and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that their business needs are met. There will be a requirement to attend and lead stakeholder management meetings and often act as a single point of contact for all communications from the departments concerned and not just those for the categories managed. The Senior Category Specialist will have experience: * A strong commercial background with ideally an appropriate professional qualification e.g. CIPS * Experience and knowledge of purchasing processes (e.g. managing tenders SAP, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.) The Senior Category Specialist must demonstrate: * Strong organisational skills * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Good influencing skills * An ability to manage stakeholders at all levels * The capability to be self reliant - able to work on own initiative You will be educated to degree level or equivalent - A full driving licence will be required as will require travel maybe necessary within the Severn Trent Water region.
