ROLE - Senior Business Analyst - Group Operations - Insurance - Lean Sigma - Edinburgh - £450

Purpose of the Programme
Our client, a leading UK retail bank require the services of a Business Analyst.

The purpose of the LP&I Operations simplifying Programme is to:

- Improve the customer experience - by having fewer steps, less errors and increased efficiency.
- Making it simple for colleagues - by making it easier to do our jobs and maximising the time to spend with our customers.
- Reducing costs - by identifying opportunities to eradicate waste and investing money back into the business.

The Programme is a key part of the LP&I Strategy and aligns with the banks Simplifying principles, with an expectation that this will result in an improved customer experience, empower colleagues, make it easier for them to carry out their roles and will deliver a significant cost to serve' reduction. Resource requests submitted to complete the study and design phases of the more transformational initiatives, and also to progress 3 tactical projects in delivery that will deliver 2013 in-year benefits of £1.2m, with run rate benefits of £3.6m from 2014.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

- Business Analyst  required to work on a number of important workstream initiatives under LP&I simplifying programme to identify opportunities and implement projects to simplify our processes, policies and systems.
- Looking for experienced operations excellence contractors who can implement good operations management practices and who can build operations excellence capability through deployment of Lean Sigma methodologies.
- Typically leads the business to define & shape the project objectives, making goals, requirements and constraints unambiguous to IT, working across the implementation of a major project
- Responsible for simple or straightforward initiatives with guidance and support, leads scoping and requirements definition on behalf of IT at Idea/Initiation/Study and owns responsibility until Implementation
- Ability for agreeing the approach to be taken to business requirements activities
- Collaboration with EAD colleagues to provide inputs necessary for solution evaluation and creation of architectural deliverables
- Collaboration with ADM colleagues to provide inputs necessary for creation of platform level design deliverables
- Leads activity in order to understand the business vision and resulting portfolio
- Ensures compliance with the Bank's IT architectures, books of instructions, procedures and guidelines, quality standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements

CORE SKILLS

- Ability to interact with peer group across Group IT (CIO, EAD, ADM etc) to ensure effective working relationships and project handshakes
- Able to work with ambiguity to derive clear programme or project objectives and requirements
- Ability to operate and influence in a complex and diverse stakeholder environment
- Proven ability to manage analysis across large scale portfolio of initiatives
- Typically 3-6 years experience in Business Analysis for good performers
- ISEB or similar qualifications
- Candidate must be an Experienced Lean/Operations Excellence practitioner with experience of building operational capability through deployment of lean sigma methodologies
- Understands Good Operational Management Practices

DESIRABLE SKILLS

- Insurance Experience with Pensions and Investments experience preferred
- Lean Sigma
- Experience of working in Back Office Operations Environments
