Senior Applications Analyst

Job Summary

POSITION: Fixed Term until 31st December 2014, full time 36 hours per week
SALARY: Normal starting salary of £37,641 + 25 days leave (27 after 5 years' service)

We are currently looking for a Senior Applications Analyst to provide in-depth technical support and documentation for applications and modules. You will apply standards for programming tools and development techniques to ensure compliance across the Council.

Service Support and Improvement Staff will modify and install applications and update relevant documentation to a clear design specification, investigating and resolving problems reported by users of one or more specific line of business applications.

The successful post holder will own the application release and deployment management process so that all phases are undertaken before release into production. You will analyse, define, configure and implement interfaces between business applications to provide integrated solutions of Council Systems. You will also be responsible for leading third-line support for resolving application issues that the Service Centre has been unable to resolve.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

- BSc in Computer Science discipline or equivalent industry experience
- Knowledge in supporting CMS, JBOSS, Liferay and CRM systems
- Understand in great depth all the associated technologies in the web-tier.
- Demonstrated proficiency in System administration (Linux/Solaris) including CLI and Shell Scripting
- Experience in installing, configuring and fine tuning of JAVA application containers such as Tomcat, JBOSS EAP
- Experience of supporting Middleware components
- Experience of supporting and integrating CRM systems. Experience of Lagan is highly advantageous
- Ability to provide expert advice on how to best use the application capabilities within an enterprise and integrated environment
- Ability to provide hands on guidance at expert level in performance tuning of systems.
- Ability to manage customer expectations and ensure effective communications with colleagues and customers
- Good working knowledge of local authority Web applications and integration
- Experience in application management and support in a large organisation including resolution of any operational issues
- Familiar with the security standards and all relevant legislation that affects security within the defined scope of authority
