Senior Accounting Technician/Management Accountant

We are looking for management accountants with the ability to:

Assist with the production of monthly budget monitoring reports, provide financial forecasts, meet with budget holders, complete grant claims and financial returns, undertake cash, control and feeder system reconciliations and help ensure the information held within the finance system is accurate and up to date.

Candidates will need to be AAT qualified, CCAB part qualified or studying towards CCAB with previous relevant experience.

Strong IT skills to include Excel are required, previous experience of Oracle and OBI would be desirable.

Candidates need to be team players, proactvie, flexible in their approach to work and able to communicate effectively with a range of people.

1. Contribute to the delivery for client services of financial reports such that the financial management needs both revenue and capital of the services are met. This would include ensuring accurate budget reports are produced on time and the attendance at budgetary control meetings with clients to identify any issues of concern.

2. To work with client services to identify, quantify and report/escalate significant financial problems or weaknesses through to Lead Management Accountants.

3. To provide support and/or attend strategic meetings with Business Partners and client departments to ensure officers are provided with the most accurate reliable and timely information.

4. To work with Finance colleagues to ensure that data (actual and budget, revenue and capital, and projected) within the electronic financial management system (Oracle ERP) is secure and accurate in relation to their client services.

5. Where responsible to complete in a timely and accurate manner reconciliations, clearance of suspense accounts and the processing of journals and virements.

6. To support the Annual Budget setting process to be completed on time and in line with agreed arrangements for their client services including disaggregating accurately all agreed corporate budgets.

7. To support in the completion of the Final Accounts and associated external reporting requirements (including Statutory Returns) including ensuring the validation of all client services' lines of account.

8. To provide support to ensure that all major projects, capital schemes and/or business opportunities in their client services are consistent with corporate and/or service objectives and priorities and are appropriately appraised, financially robust and legal.

9. To contribute to the delivery of financial training to ensure key stakeholders are resourced to deliver effective budget management and be made aware of accounting policy changes. This would include supporting in the delivery of training to non-finance managers.

10. Attending Senior leadership and management team meetings to give advice as required on financial management.

11. To undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required

Key objectives for the next 12 months

1. Establish the required systems to ensure that the financial reporting needs of client services can be met.

2. Establish effective relations with client services so that clients recognise the Management Accountants as a key role for meeting their needs.

3. Develop ERP reporting and data interrogation and manipulation skills so as to maximise the use of the ERP whilst meeting client's needs.
