Senior Accountant

Our client, a large financial institution in Essex, are looking for a Senior Accountant to join them for an initial 6 month contract.

Job Specific Responsibilities
- Preparation of statutory accounts for UK legal entities in accordance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and IFRS
- Preparation of regulatory and capital adequacy returns for submission to the Financial Conduct authority ('FCA')
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly balance sheet reporting for local management and the Corporate reporting team in the US
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for those accounts that are reconciled by the UK Accounting Team and highlight any issues to the Accounting Manager;
- Provide accounting advice to the business finance teams as and when requested
- Work with the business finance and tax teams to ensure that any costs incurred on behalf of other group entities are re-charged in accordance with group policy and appropriate transfer pricing documentation is in place
- Investigation and resolution of technical accounting issues
- Participate in project work undertaken by the Accounting Group

Candidate Requirements
- Good understanding of accounting principles, Companies Law requirements, IFRS and UK GAAP.
- US GAAP knowledge would be advantageous but not essential
- Working knowledge of Oracle and/or HFM would be an advantage
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables to tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience.
ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent
