Seed Technician

Yoh has a contract opportunity for a SEED TECHNICIAN to join our client in Creve Coeur/Chesterfield, MO.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSIGNED TO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES SUCH AS:

- HAND HARVEST- Outdoor activity- requires a lot of bending and lifting, match the location on the harvest tag to the plot in the field, stomp down the row at the base of the plant, gather the plants and secure the bundle with twine keeping the tag attached, place bundle in truck, reorganize bundles in storage area.
- SINGLE PLANT THRESHING- Indoor activity, exposure to dust, requires bending and lifting, long periods of sitting or standing, match the bar-coded envelopes coordinating to each harvested bundle, send one plant at a time through the machine, work in a team of 2 one person feeding plants, the other catching seed), clip the harvest tag to the first envelope, place envelopes in consecutive order into 4 column box, label box.
- SCANNING- Indoor activity requires bending and lifting, long periods of sitting or standing, use custom software to scan each sample.
- TREATING SEED- Indoor activity, requires bending and lifting, long periods of sitting, apply small amount of fungicide to seed samples.
- COUNTING SEED- Indoor activity requires bending and lifting, long periods of sitting, use of mechanical seed counter, dimple boards, or volumetric counters to cut samples to certain seed numbers.
- PACKAGING AND LABELING:
- Set up, clean, disassemble and assemble small processing lines and equipment
- pull seed samples according to OPO requirements,
- Demonstrates full understanding of packaging procedures and work instructions (written and/or verbal) and follow them (written and/or verbal), performs
- Validates and record all need information on Operation Production Orders (OPO),
- Ensure safe seed handling to avoid seed mixes and QA issues, report any problem identified with seed handling immediately to supervisor,
- Understands and complies with company Safety guidelines and housekeeping practices, trainings and use of appropriate PPE.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- This role requires that the candidate possess High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, Basic English, written and verbal communication skills.
- ABLE TO LIFT OR MOVE ITEMS UP TO 50 LBS. OF WEIGHT
- This role requires the ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to calculate pack weight based upon seed count information in OPO.
- Understands and practices safe seed handling principles.
- Ability to use scales including pack seed material into various cans foils, bags, pouches and pails.
- Must be willing to work Over Time or on week end on short notice when call on.
