SECURITY OFFICER - CLACTON LIBRARY

TEMPORARY CONTRACT - APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS FROM 5TH APRIL

PART TIME - 7 HOURS PER WEEK (SATURDAY: 9-5PM)

£8.00 PER HOUR

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within Essex County Council, one of the largest and most dynamic authorities in the UK.

We are currently looking to recruit a temporary experienced Security Officer based at Clacton Library. This is a diverse role which comes with a high level of responsibility for ensuring and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for Library customers, partners and staff.

This essential role involves patrolling Clacton Library and car park for security purposes identifying suspicious packages, other hazards and taking appropriate action and challenging as necessary. You will be responsible for assessing and monitoring visitors; in particular ensuring persons use the library in a responsible manner and adhere to the Library Byelaws, and to challenge individuals as necessary, complete reports on any incidents occurring and report to the Group Manager on findings and actions taken.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

- To provide security services as required promoting a good image of Clacton Library.
- To liaise with the local police and other agencies to gain and share intelligence with the aim to prevent incidents and issues.
- To undertake checks on staff, persons working alone and responding to reports of unusual sounds, smells or investigation of fire alarm signals.
- To lock and unlock areas of the building as required either manually or electronically ensuring that alarms are set where necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- SIA licence essential
- Detailed knowledge of all access control, alarm and surveillance systems. Detailed knowledge of the layout of the library an advantage but not essential.
- Previous security experience essential
- Good communication and keyboard skills essential
- Detailed knowledge of security procedures and the security manual
- The ability to work unsupervised and to self-motivate is essential
- Knowledge of First Aid, Health and Safety Regulations and Fire Regulations
