SCOM Expert; Installation, Monitoring and Scripting

SCOM EXPERT; INSTALLATION, MONITORING AND SCRIPTING

SCOM Expert sought for a 3months + contract opportunity based in Copenhagen/Denmark.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE, SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILL SET;

- Windows Server knowledge
- Linux/Unix knowledge
- Profound SCOM 2012 knowledge, especially in regards to Linux/Unix monitoring.
- Nagios knowledge (preferably in relation with moving existing Nagios monitoring to SCOM).
- Able to create SCOM Management Packs from scratch (preferably experience in moving Linux/Windows monitoring from Nagios to SCOM).
- PowerShell/VBScript knowledge (in relation to creating scripted monitoring and automation within SCOM).
- Documentation skills in relation to producing platform and user-facing documents.
- Must be able to take ownership of a task and complete it, seeking the necessary information independently.

DEFINITION OF SPECIFIC TASKS TO BE CARRIED OUT:

- SCOM Linux Agent installation

o Define RunAs accounts needed.

o Create/test/implement installation instructions for use in all BUs.

o Liase with Agent installation instructions are meeting existing Linux platform requirements and match current distribution/installation methods.

- SCOM/Linux monitoring issues

o Investigate and find solution for shortcomings in SCOM/Linux monitoring (a list has been issued to Mohammad from Per).

- Move Nagios monitoring to SCOM

o Investigate the extend of what is monitored by Nagios today.

o Plan how existing Nagios monitoring is going to be distributed in new SCOM Management Pack(s).

o Create/test/implement the new SCOM Management Packs for the existing Nagios monitoring.

- Scripting/MP creation

o Fix minor errors in Group Populator MP

o Modify AlertUpdate script to find name of the server the alert originated from.
