SCM Engineer

For this contract position with a world-renowned computer manufacturing company, you will be delivering support resources for software development teams through Version Control administration, Build and Release Engineering and SCM best practices.

OVERVIEW

- Provide SCM Administration to development teams with emphasis on Perforce, GIT, Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest, in a multi-site, cross platform development environment.
- Assist in Unix software build and release management; includes build system automation, nightly builds, build replication and release process management.
- Work with the development teams to identify and root cause constraints and implement process improvements related to these areas of responsibility. Provide automated scripted solutions for both UNIX and NT environments where appropriate.
- Deliver technical support and direction to development teams, aiding optimization of existing SCM system(s) and processes. Support includes monitoring of help desk requests to resolve developer issues regarding supported tools and processes.
- Build and maintain distributed source control and defect tracking (Configuration Management) databases for software development teams.
- Influence and implement change control processes and procedures, including creation and maintenance of documentation on processes as implemented.
- Support Metrics production and analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS

- At least 3 years of overall IT experience
- Strong practical experience writing automated scripts that are well-structured, optimized, documented and tested using batch files, PERL, Python
- Should be a self-starter, quick learner; capable of setting priorities and remain efficient while multi-tasking
- Exceptional troubleshooting, training and technical writing skills
- Must be able to work as a member of a dynamic global team
- Well organized with excellent analytical, communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to cope with ambiguity and change required
