Scientist - Protein Purification

For our pharma client based in the German speaking part of Switzerland, I am recruiting for a Junior Bioanalytical Scientist (Contract). You will be evaluating new therapeutic protein candidates at the transition from research to development. As a member of the DSP team, you will contribute to the purification and process assessment of various kinds of therapeutic protein candidates. You will contribute to automated resin screenings and gram-scale productions using cutting edge technologies. You will be responsible for activities such as cell line development, purification, biophysical profiling, pre-formulation assessment and in vivo fitness. You will be working and collaborating with international and passionate scientists.

Major Accountabilities.
Plan and perform lab-scale purifications of antibodies and other novel protein formats under the supervision of a DSP expert using state-of-the-art equipment, eg ÄKTA Avant, ÄKTA Pilot, Tecan liquid handling systems. Work in endotoxin-free environment (sterile handling). Accurately and timely process samples, contribute to result interpretation and prepare summary documents and enter data in electronic lab journal. Actively participate and present scientific data in team and expert meetings. Actively contribute to maintenance of equipment and organization of lab infrastructure (eg consumable orders). Contribute to writing of lab procedures, technology evaluations and implementation of new equipment. Actively contribute to coordination of all material supplies and logistics for customers. Work closely with the analytical team to coordinate analytics for all in-process samples to enable decision on a suitable production process. Able to handle several tasks in parallel with high quality focus

Minimum Requirements.
Laboratory technician, bio-engineer, M.Sc. degree in biochemistry or equivalent education. Solid hands-on experience with ÄKTA systems and protein purification techniques. Knowledge of protein separation techniques and principles. Experience with interpretation of chromatograms and analytical data. Accurate working style and passion for hands-on lab. Strong inter-personal and communication skills. Proficiency in English (oral and written) is required, knowledge of German or French language is a plus.
