SCIENTIST NEEDED for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in San Diego, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Molecular/cellular biologist with responsibility to support cross-functional project team(s) and to advance novel targets within Client's I&I (Inflammation and Immunity) Discovery Portfolio.

- Independently design and develop functional assays for Project Team(s). Optimize and validate cellular assays to profile large or small molecule antagonists of novel I&I targets.
- Run routine cellular assays to determine activity of antagonists and deliver high-quality data to Project Teams in a timely fashion.
- Identify novel targets for inclusion in I&I drug discovery portfolio.
- Meet regularly with supervisor to provide verbal and/or written progress reports.
- Present data as required at Project and Departmental meetings.
- Must be able to keep current with electronic lab notebook.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- One to two (1 - 2) years of experience (drug discovery and industry)
- Hands-on laboratory experience in target validation, cellular assay development, and drug screening done in the context of large or small molecule discovery teams.
- Demonstrable experience with integrin targets, including adhesion, co-culture and ligand binding assays, cell surface integrin expression profiling, large or small molecule screening.
- Expertise with tissue culture (including primary cells), flow cytometry, and other cell biology approaches. Utilizes Good Laboratory Practices. Familiarity with general lab instrumentation.
- Knowledge of inflammation, autoimmunity, and/or fibrosis preferred.
- Able to function independently, analyze and interpret data, design/execute complex experiments, communicate effectively, solve problems/troubleshoot. Team player. Detail oriented and organized.
