Projektbeschreibung

My client is seeking a Scientific Interim (18 months) to provide support for the implementation (technically, scientifically, strategically and validation) of predictive and analytical in silico systems for preclinical toxicology within Preclinical Safety (PCS). The candidate will be involved in the IMI eTox and eTRANSAFE (eTS) project consortia which aims at the design of QSAR (quantitative structure-activity relationship) models to predict toxicological liabilities of early drug candidates, and to establish a relationship between animal toxicity data and human safety. In this context he/she will be responsible for retrieval of Legacy in vivo toxicological study reports, data extraction, followed by import into a toxicological data base and the respective quality checks. It is expected that he/she will also work in close collaboration with external CROs to facilitate the process of data extraction and to ensure its continuous quality, as well as working in close relationship with the Pharmacovigilance colleagues. Furthermore, the candidate will be involved in the verification process of the established QSARs models in eTOX and eTS.

The candidate will have an opportunity to conduct database and QSAR work under the guidance of a dedicated PCS scientist. The work will provide a chance to gain knowledge on toxicological safety assessment and drug development of pharmaceutical candidates. Moreover, there will be the opportunity to interact with different line functions throughout research departments.

This position reports into the Biochemical and Cellular Toxicology section head and eTOX/eTS consortium leader, within Discovery and Investigative Safety (DIS) - PCS.Tasks:

Advise eTOX/eTS consortium leader, work in collaboration with NVS staff allocated to the consortium and direct some of:

- Tasks for implementation of eTOXsys and eTSsys within the infrastructure in collaboration with NIBR IT
- Direct the implementation of system validation for data retrieval and data analysis within the eTOX/eTS databases
- Advise for optimal global structure and functionality of the underlying VITIC database and the eTOX/eTS databases
- Advise and direct the validation of predictive algorithms
- Advise on priorities for the development of predictive algorithms
- Performs validation exercises to evaluate prediction models using internal test data
- Advise for the choice and priority about software and algorithms to be used and developed for the purpose of preclinical toxicology
- Liaising with key user departments such as, but not limited to, Global Chemistry (GDC), Center for Proteomics Chemistry (CPC) and Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (MAP)
- Bringing expertise about in silico prediction and QSAR models, and advise on strategic direction for future developmentMinimum requirements

Person Profile:

- University degree in Chemistry or related fields
- PhD in Toxicology or a related field
- Extensive experience in the area of (Q)SARs Understanding of toxicological endpoints
- Knowledge in the design and application of databases
- Minimum knowledge in some programming language, preferably in Python
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
