Eingestellt von Bio Careers

Gesuchte Skills: Design

Projektbeschreibung

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, is one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. Children from all 50 states and from around the world have come through the doors of St. Jude for treatment, and thousands more around the world have benefited from the research conducted at St. Jude - research that is shared freely with the global medical community. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance. No child is denied treatment because of a family's inability to pay.

The overall goal of the Research Grade Vector Production laboratory is to assist researchers in the production of viral vector preparations for use in research experiments in their laboratories. We accomplish this in several ways, which range from custom vector production, distribution of reagents and protocols, or consulting with research faculty on the best path for vector design and production.

The Scientific Manager of Research Vector Production will be responsible for the daily supervision and operation of the Research Grade Vector Production laboratory. Maintain current knowledge of the literature and new techniques in viral vector production and quality control. Interpret and ensure consistent application of policies. Play an active role in meeting demand for vector production activity and develop the operating procedures for the laboratory. Assist the Director of Vector Production and Development in testing new methods and technologies for the production, purification and application of viral vectors. Organize audits, evaluate, revise and maintain SOPs to ensure the quality of procedures, systems and processes. Ensure that instrumentation is properly operated and maintained and take an active role in sample processing when necessary. Direct the oversight of lab equipment to include all maintenance and replacement planning. Plan budget and advise Director on future directions for the shared resource. Consult with research faculty on current and future needs for services. Participate in collaborative research projects with SJ Research Faculty members. Assist the Director in shared resource administrative and supervisory functions.
