SC Cleared Storage Project Engineer - Andover

SC CLEARED STORAGE PROJECT ENGINEER - WILTSHIRE & HAMPSHIRE - 4 MONTH CONTRACT

Our client, a leading international IT services provider who provides integrated design, builds and operates solutions to large multi-national clients requires a SC Cleared Storage Project Engineer in Wiltshire & Hampshire on an initial 4 month contract.

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for data storage and back-up for a number of our client's customers. Working within the delivery team, supporting customer live production environments as well as involvement in implementing new environments, typical tasks will include:

- Provisioning disk storage
- Attaching new Servers to the SAN for existing customers
- Lun removal or decommissioning from server
- Extensive troubleshooting and administration experience in Networker and Avamar backup products.
- Experience with administration of EMC (VNX and Extreme IO)
- Familiarity with storage virtualisation and provisioning concepts
- Troubleshooting and maintenance skills of Windows and UNIX platforms
- Experience with VMWare VADP and VCB backup APIs
- SAN Zoning experience
- Experience in backup, storage and SAN performance management
- Grounding in IP Networking technologies and concepts
- Conceptual understanding of Oracle, MSSQL, Exchange, Enterprise Vault and SAP
- Familiarity of disaster recovery techniques
- Familiarisation with Legacy storage, SAN and backup infrastructures
- Configuring new and amending existing back-ups
- Fulfil restore requests
- Daily health checks on SAN hardware
- Daily health checks on state of back-ups
- Investigation and progression of back-up failures
- Daily monitoring of backup disk, tape drive and tape resources
- Ownership and management of storage related change, incident and problem tickets
- Co-ordinating changes with 3rd party support engineers
- Customised reporting, as agreed with individual account teams
- Attendance at CAB meetings, as required
- Attendance at periodic account review meetings, as required
- Reviews of storage related software/firmware version levels as required
- Audits of storage infrastructure, as required
- Maintenance of SAN specific documentation

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Experienced storage engineer with Experience of SAN switch management for major vendors including Brocade, Cisco and McData
- Experience of SAN infrastructures, cabling and switch zoning & Experience of EMC storage management and storage/backup hardware installation and management
- SC cleared and good understanding of ITIL concepts
