SC Cleared SQL Server DBA - SQL Server 2012 is required by my client who is based in London

REQUIRED SKILLS:

In depth knowledge and experience of one or more database systems (Oracle, Sybase, Filemaker Pro, and Microsoft's SQL Server):

Knowledge and experience of SQL query development.

Experience in database design, database management, data maintenance, database security, database performance tuning, and/or database administration.

Proven experience of transfer existing data into new and more efficient database systems.

Proven experience in testing the effectiveness of databases, modifying and adjusting database performance and queries as needed and resolve database problems.

Able to ensure the security of the database in coordination with the security team.

Good design and documentation skills including definition of logical and physical data models.

Good problem solver.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

DESIRED SKILLS:

Database administration with Remedy 7.6.04, SharePoint and System Centre 2012 R2.

Ability to work across multiple work taskings.

Certifications in database packages (Oracle/SQL Server) and other COTS products.

SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION:

A database engineer is required to assist with the development of database infrastructure in order to deliver an ICT managed service. The SQL database administrator is required to support an ICT Managed Service and associated ICT Infrastructure. The chosen candidate will oversee the creation and administration of high performance databases.

The candidate will also manage larger or more complex databases and utilise database management software, including Oracle, MS SQL, MS Access and other database management programs. Design and development of SQL will be required. The candidate will identify the needs of the end-user and set up SQL queries and databases to meet the data needs of each user.

The successful candidate will have experience working under very general supervision and be able to manage their workload. There may be a requirement for out-of-hours support in exceptional circumstances.

STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION:

Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. Responsibilities include: database loading; development and management of operational procedures; environment management; database health (eg monitoring, proactive and reactive responses); resource planning; database upgrade planning; backup and recovery strategy planning and implementation; environment transition planning (development, test, stage, production).
