A leading defence and homeland security client has a new requirement for a SC Cleared Solutions Architect for an initial period of 6 months. Please note that due to the nature of this position, candidates must hold a current SC level Security Clearance.

Our client are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect. This role will mainly be based in Mons in Belgium, (1 hour from Brussels) with occasional travel to their site in Filton, Bristol.

Responsibilities:

- To architect and maintain efficient and effective IT Infrastructure that meets the needs and operational expectations of both internal and external customers.
- To ensure technical design and delivery follow core strategic goals of the Architecture team, such as reuse, modularisation and ease of delivery.
- To own and maintain current IT Infrastructure deployments, both internally and those created for customers. - Developing roadmaps for continued innovation, business benefit and increasing efficiency.
- To work closely with development and technical staff to ensure technical deliveries reflect and deliver business requirements.
- To work closely with development and technical staff to ensure technical deliveries recognise and highlight IT Infrastructure requirements.
- To act as solution lead (and/or technical lead) on varying delivery initiatives, overseeing and owning capability definition and delivery for customers. This includes bringing together technical and PMO persons in defining and delivering pragmatic, suitable and financially viable solutions that can be delivered in the purported timescales.

Core Duties:

- Ownership of IT Infrastructure design for core internal projects and solution design
- Ownership of IT Infrastructure design for customer projects and programmes
- Ownership of IT Infrastructure architecture direction setting and strategy
- Core member of the Architecture Review Board for all IT deliverables both internally and to customers
- Guidance and control of IT technical design consultants, assuring quality, fitness for purpose, financial viability and timely delivery of all respective products.
- Guidance and control of IT Infrastructure during the engineering and delivery phases of solution design and employment; assuring quality, fitness for purpose, financial viability and timely delivery of all respective products.
- Production of strategic IT Infrastructure related documentation, including but limited to:
- Architectural strategy documents
- Business cases
- Capability roadmaps
- Solution design documents
- Support of Sales team in understanding technical deliveries, customer liaison, requirements elicitation.

Skills/Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology oriented major is a must; a Master degree is preferred.
- Experience of leading large government related solution design and delivery, preferably in a secure environment.
- 7 to 10 years IT System Administration/Network/Infrastructure Architecture experience that includes, Database, Unix/Linux, Windows, SAN, Networking, and Security Management
- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF)
- Capacity Planning - Application sizing and estimating requirements for all aspects of production, testing and development environments
- Operating Systems: Unix/Linux/Windows 2003, 2008, 2008 R2 (Standard and Enterprise), Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 5.x+), VMware and OVM
- Senior level knowledge and experience with VMware and server virtualization
- Strong Experience in System Administration (Windows 2008/2008R2 and AIX/Linux preferably REDHAT)
- Strong experience in both designing and administering multiple storage solutions
