SAS Developer (ETL SQL)

A SAS Developer is required by a leading client in Staines to responsible for build, development and successful implementation of Management Information solutions, using the SAS toolset using appropriate methods and data.

The jobholder is required to provide specialist, unique advice, analysis and consultancy on the extraction, interpretation and development of data for one of our client's major business units.

Role & Accountabilities

* Identifying and agree new MI requirements that require a specific SAS solution
* Assisting in the automation of regular team outputs, ensuring automated solutions are fit for purpose and supportable.
* Responsibility for overseeing the delivery and development of month-end updates of data from the MOI Data Warehouse and other source systems into SAS, which provides the core data used by this business units analyst community (primarily the Finance and Actuarial analysts).
* Analysing on appropriateness of data in the SAS environment, if necessary developing new streams of data to meet business needs.
* Working in conjunction with Business Shared Services IT to ensure that the computing and network services available to the SAS analysis teams are sufficient and appropriate, in terms of reliability and performance
* Providing expert advice to analysts in other SAS user teams on programming techniques and efficiencies, including creating and running training modules.
* Developing of policy governing the use of shared computer resources to ensure that individual users are not working in ways that are detrimental to the overall SAS environment and user community.
* Maintaining effective communications with internal customers, who will not always have a technical background, keeping them advised of progress and resolving any concerns

Essential skills required

Working knowledge and experience of Data Warehouse Design

* Knowledge of the development life cycle
* Proven experience of SQL Code and data transformation (ETL)
* Ability to administer Databases - SQL, Data structures (tables, views, stored procedures), Data Transformation, efficiency, normalisation.
* SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9.2 or equivalent
