SAN Storage Specialist Belgium

Next Ventures are currently executing a search for a skilled SAN storage specialist for a 3 months mission in Brussels.
The Storage & Backup System Engineer will join the IBM SO Belgium Storage team.
He/She will be responsible to support existing infrastructures and/or take ownership on storage projects.
This position requires experience with storage area networks (SAN), Backup/Recovery environments and disk subsystems.
The Storagehe/she will be the first point of contact during projects for the storage team towards system administrators; and will proactively monitor the production environment driving issues to resolution.
The working hours within the Storage team are flexible. Planned changes will possibly take place outside office hours including weekends.
Onsite presence is required, home working is allowed for maximum one day per week once integrated in the team and after having management approval.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
* Install, configure, and maintain production storage infrastructure (IBM's Enterprise Storage Subsystems, DS8000, SAN Volume Controller)
* Provide architectural oversight to storage devices and SAN infrastructure
* Experience with SAN fabrics, zoning and port configurations (Brocade 48000, DCX)
* Provide daily storage and SAN health checking
* Perform data migrations
* Provide management reports for storage environments
* Install and configure storage area networks
* Proactively monitor the production environment and identify potential issues
* Provide support in case of escalations and issues during and after the data migrations
* Act as a resource for Storage team; provide technical guidance
Minimum Requirements
Ideally, the candidate has skills in all domains listed below. Candidates with skills and experience in some domains can apply as well.
* Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Computer Technology (or equivalent through experience) is required with 3+ years' experience in a systems administration or engineering role
* Experience with management and administration of Storage Area Networks
* Experience with management and administration of data replication technologies
* Strong working knowledge of management and administration of virtualization of data via IBM SAN Volume Controller or comparable technologies
* Strong working knowledge of Backup Environments
* High attention to detail is a must
* Ability to strictly follow directions but also work independently
* Good communication skills, both written and oral
* Must be able to work well in a team environment
* Must be capable of managing multiple priorities
* Enthusiastic, can-do attitude
* Complex problem-solving and analytical skills
* Creativity and critical thinking skills
* Ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner towards (project) management
Language requirements:
Fluent English, Dutch or French is a plus.
