Safety System Design Engineer

Summary of Role:

My Client is looking for an experienced Safety Systems Engineer to join their established team in designing hardwired instrument safety systems across the nuclear and power generation industry sectors. The designs submitted must be compliant with IEC61508 and IEC61511. They will be developed from a given safety requirements specification and will typically be to SIL2. You will be responsible to the hardware and QA managers for all elements of the design, including configuration diagrams, drawings, calculations and test specifications. Providing support to the shop floor build and test teams. Producing the full safety substantiation documentation to IEC61508 utilising procedures and forms.

Role Description:
*Liaising with the client teams to fully understand the project safety requirements
*Acting as responsible engineer for hardwired safety systems
*Designing safety interlock and shutdown systems to IEC61508 and relevant industry
sector standards typically EG90
*Developing panel general arrangement and schematic drawings using AutoCAD
Electrical 2010
*Provide engineering support to the cubicle production process
*Support to commissioning where required
*Attend meetings, design reviews and sites where required
*Liaising with safety systems consultants where advice or independent V&V is
required

Essential Requirements:
*Educated to HND and preferably degree level in an appropriate engineering discipline
*Trained and experienced to the practitioner level for IEC61508
*Skilled in the use of AutoCAD, and documentation tools
*Experience in the relevant industry sectors
